Project Research And Inspiration

For my project I researched on different animators to look at their styles and the way they animated their creations to give me an idea and inspiration toward my own animation, I took ideas of styles from some well known animators as well lesser known, for example I used the style from a small animator I know of but used a style of animation of which is similar to the famous and well known animated film Ice Age.

But specifically the scene where the animated mammoth also known as "Manny" looks at caveman drawings and sees a small tragic story play out before him. For example to this here is a short clip from the film, and a short clip from my animation.

My Animation

Ice Age (2002)

As you can see I had my animation inspired from this scene in this movie.

I looked up information on tigers and bucks and watched videos in order to help me study on their movement and actions, behaviours and personality.

I looked up diagrams of their anatomy to help me understand the movement better too like this:

After I looked up diagrams and anatomy to help me with the knowledge of movement for my animals I then started to search more in depth of the animators and how I could use their techniques and understanding to my own creation.

I looked at animators such as;

Looking at this animator I used their technique on deers to try further improve my own.

Inspiration

For inspiration its always been animals as my main source, I have often watched documentaries on animals found it fascinating how animals move and the way their body looks. I have however also looked at different animations from different animators, some of them are just simple animators from youtube that I enjoy watching such as;

I loved this animator as they often do motion comics like this and their style is something I have always wished to achieve, their animation is very smooth and consistent too, so I have often used this animator as a source of inspiration.

I have often looked at another animator whose very heavily inspired by wolves, so majority of her work is wolves, such as little stories she's done like this;

Unfortunately this animator retired several years ago, so their work is a bit outdated now, but I enjoyed the characters work and progress, I watched her improve and it helped me to think that maybe I could improve myself, and the inspiration came from that.
